Making Puppets - October 2011

As part of our Literacy and Design Technology unit, we have been making our very own puppets. We chose a template, cut out two pieces of felt, added lots of detail for the face and then sewed the puppet round the outside. We are very proud of our finished work.

SEED's Club

We have started a new year in SEED's club which is the Year 2 science club run on a Thursday lunchtime by Year 5 volunteers with Mrs. McMahon. We had great fun making moving cars using balloons.

Year 2 - Writing Stories to Share

We have made a good start to the year in Year 2 by creating short stories which we then shared with Nursery. A fun afternoon was had by all.

Design and Technology Focus: Houses and Homes

The children spent the Spring 2 term learning about houses and homes and had the opportunity to design and create their own!

The process was an exciting one for all and every child thought carefully about the features of their home.

Using carefully selected junk modelling materials from home, the children then created homes that I think would look quite impressive in our local community!

Mad About Maths!

Year One have gone number crazy since the holidays, using a range of materials to add and subtract big numbers.

We have found that the best equipment to use are the place value rods as they allow us to spot the tens and units that make up the two digit numbers we are adding.
